The Roadford Rocket promised F4-6 westerlies but turned out to be F2-4 with rain, sun, wind and almost anything the weather could do. The racing was organised into 2 off 60min pursuit races allowing the RO opportunities to cancel a race if the weather came is as promised.
race 1 got underway on time at 1130 with light breezes and 30 min laps. The winds were a bit gusty but was Iain Horlock loved the conditions streaming out to a 2 min lead at the end. The mid fleet was bunched as they beat to the start line at the end.
Race 3 started in torrential rain and some big gusts. Iain however syll enjoyed the conditions in his supernova. Other we more mixed with several capsizes in the big gusts. Consistency proved the key for Stacy Bray in a Blaze recording a 3rd and 2nd and for Ellie Craig with two 4th places to take 3rd overall.
the SW Lakes challenge moves on to the Beastie on 22nd March and the main series goes to Plymouth for the Hooe Point Pounder in a new date of Saturday 7th March. Unfortunately the Moutbatten Center is currently unavailable to host events on Sundays in March. Links to both these events will be on the SSW web pages shortly..
