    NEW EVENTS CONFIRMED

    We are pleased to finalise the series with 9 events running over the winter months. Haveing completed a record visitor levels for the Wrecker we are looking forward to the Christmas Cracker at Paignton on the 30th November. In December on the 14th we welcome Castle Cove to the series. The event will comprise 2 handicap races back to back with both to count for the day. Looking forward

    Wrecker Results

    The Wrecker produced a stunning opening event to the series sailed in the Taw Torridge Estuary off Instow, hosted by North Devon Yacht Club. Sailed in F4 gusting 6 westerly wind and a longer course into the estuary the event challenged all and some big grins coming home. The event had saw 38 competitors afloat with an event record 22 visitors. This was possibly boosted by the event being free to enter.

    2025/6 Series Announced

    Sailing Southwest is pleased to announce the 9th SW Winter Series commencing in November with the North Devon yacht Club Wrecker at instow on the North Devon coast. The series will take competitors from North Devon to the Cornish and Devon south coasts, and to inland waters in Somerset and Devon. Up to 10 events will be planned over the winter with competitors having to sail in 50% (rounded up) to qualify for

  • Sutton Bingham results are in

    Castle Cove dominate with Simon Hawks winning in his K1 and Benjamin Pascoe in second place in a 2000. Ian Jay took third ahead of the 2 Fireflys of Angus Cook and Jono Pank. Overall with 4 races completed and 2 to count that shakes up the standings. Check out overall results here.

  • Results after 3 Rounds

    The results after the Plymouth Pounder saw the Zak Mitchell in his RS Aero take the lead having competed in all 3 events with 20 points and Hugh Kingdon of NDYC in 2nd overall. Close behind in 3rd and 4th are the leading boats from the Pounder, Adam Watson Steve Long sailing their RS 600 and 2000 respectively. The results are skewed a little by the DNS results reflecting number of competitors

  • Results from Plymouth Pounder

    The Breeze stayed allowing trapeze boats to fly in ideal conditions. Adam Watson held first pl;ace in his RS600 and Steve Long in a 2000 holding second over Simon Hawks in his Phantom. A sight was the 18ft Skiff helmed by Peter Crudgington taking 7th overall. Well done all and to Hooe Point SC for a successful event.

  • Ben Flower takes the Christmas Cracker

    Congratulations to Ben who took the overall winner of the Christmas Cracker but local sailor Zak currently leads the series with a 7th at NDYC and 4th in the Cracker. Race reports will follow. Watch this space for more information

    Wrecker Race Report November 2024 North Devon Yacht Club

    10 th November forecasts were poor with little or no wind so we were delighted to see 20 boats mustering for the Wrecker Pursuit. This was the first event in the Sailing Southwest Winter Pursuit Series. Slowly the wind filled in from the SE to a steady 5-7 kn. The race was on.
